Tesla Denies Excluding Chinese Suppliers, Highlights Cost Benefits
Tesla has publicly refuted claims of excluding Chinese suppliers from its U.S. supply chain, emphasizing a uniform global procurement strategy. Grace Tao, the company's VP of government affairs in China, clarified via Weibo that Tesla applies identical supplier standards across all regions—whether in the U.S., China, or Europe.
The Shanghai Gigafactory's cost advantages took center stage, with TAO noting its domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y benefit from over 400 local suppliers. Chinese-made components reportedly constitute 95% of these vehicles' parts, leveraging China's competitive pricing to achieve the lowest global retail prices.
